Apple has denied violating a court order governing its App Store in a lawsuit by ‘Fortnite’ developer Epic Games, according to a media report on Monday.
In a filing, the tech giant urged a California federal judge to dismiss Epic Games' request to hold it in contempt.
Apple criticised Epic Games for attempting to make its tools and technologies available to developers for free. However, the gaming company clarified it wants the court to micromanage the iPhone firm’s business operations in a way that would increase Epic’s profitability.
This dispute is a long ongoing battle, but both companies have chosen to remain mute on the new court filing.
Epic Games won this high-profile antitrust trial against Google in December. The trial, which lasted for over a month, accused Google of operating the Play app store as an illegal monopoly, engaging in anti-competitive practices, and imposing exorbitant fees of up to 30 per cent on app developers.
In January, the US Supreme Court decided not to review Apple's appeal of the injunction order.
Epic had largely lost its case against Apple earlier, but in 2021, the court ordered Apple to grant greater freedom to developers, guiding app users with alternative payment methods for digital goods.
