China's Alibaba Cloud is preparing to entice artificial intelligence (AI) software developers by providing a discount of approximately 59 per cent for products utilising its offshore data centres, according to a media report on Monday.
The company stressed products related to computing, storage, network, database and big data will receive an average of a 23 per cent price reduction.
Meanwhile, this is the third time Alibaba has adopted the price cut strategy over the last few months. In February also the company revealed a similar price cut initiative for domestic users. However, this time it seems like the cloud company is alluring the developers for the last time.
Alibaba aims to build data-intensive AI models and applications using its cloud services.
Recently, Alibaba made headlines due to its legal dispute with Chinese online retailer JD.com.
JD.com has alleged that Alibaba has abused its market dominance, resulting in significant harm to its business. In a lawsuit, the latter lost the case and was ordered to pay a substantial penalty of USD 140.68 million for its monopolistic actions.
