A report on Wednesday revealed that about 90 per cent of Indian organisations are prioritising human-centric software and accessible applications in comparison to the past two years.
The report indicated that 58 per cent of respondents identify challenges in gauging the true human-centric nature of software development within an organisation. The survey was based on interviews with more than 700 application developers and IT decision-makers worldwide.
The study found that 46 per cent of participants foresee substantial impacts resulting from investments in human-centric applications in the next 12 to 18 months. Subsequently, 68 per cent reported difficulties to retrofit inclusion and accessibility into existing applications rather than factoring them into new applications from the start.
Meanwhile, an overwhelming 98 per cent of Indian companies stressed the pivotal role of human-centric software, recognising its potential to enhance user engagement and contribute to societal welfare.
Further, the Progress study added according to 84 per cent of respondents, user empowerment and trustworthiness stand as foundational pillars for crafting a compelling, human-centric digital experience in software development.
Girija Kolagada, VP, Engineering, Progress said, “As India embraces digital transformation, organisations must prioritise human-centric software design, ensuring inclusivity across diverse communities. Our survey findings underscore the increasing significance of crafting accessible applications tailored to the specific needs of users.”
The survey results also showed an average of only 59 per cent of current applications in global organisations are estimated to meet accessibility requirements.
