Facebook is bringing out its WhatsApp payment service for 400 million users in India after securing clearance from NPCI. The service was first released as a trial in 2018 in India, but due to concerns over data storage and sharing, a complete release was postponed for years. In the first phase, WhatsApp will extend its payments user base to 20 million users, in a graded manner on the UPI platform.
