Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, dedicated to the nation, and laid the foundation stone for a series of projects collectively valued at more than Rs 15,700 crore in Ayodhya on Saturday. These included the newly constructed Maharshi Valmiki International Airport, the newly renovated Ayodhya Dham Railway Station and more.
The projects, aimed at fostering development and enhancing infrastructure, include initiatives worth approximately Rs 11,100 crore for the development of Ayodhya and its surrounding areas, along with projects totaling about Rs 4,600 crore for other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The inauguration ceremony saw the Prime Minister unveil the redeveloped Ayodhya Railway Station, marking a significant milestone in the city's modernisation efforts. Additionally, he flagged off the inaugural runs of the new Amrit Bharat trains and Vande Bharat trains, contributing to the enhancement of the region's rail connectivity.
During his address at the event, Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight in being in Ayodhya and acknowledged the enthusiasm witnessed during his roadshow in the holy city. He highlighted the upcoming Pran Pratishtha at the Ram Temple, stating that the world is eagerly awaiting the event scheduled for 22 January.
Acknowledging the historical importance of 30 December, the Prime Minister noted that on this day in 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose hoisted the tricolour in Andaman, emphasising the alignment of the development resolve with the spirit of the Amrit Kaal.
PM Modi underscored the government's commitment to a balanced approach, integrating both ancient and modern elements in India's development. He juxtaposed the grand Ram Lala temple with housing for the poor, the renovation of places of faith with strides in Digital India, and achievements in space and ocean with the repatriation of heritage artefacts from abroad.
Drawing attention to Ayodhya's ancient glory, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the government's aspiration to blend tradition with modernity, aiming to re-establish Ayodhya on the national map. He envisioned Ayodhya not only influencing the development of the Awadh region but also serving as a beacon for the entire state of Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister praised the projected increase in pilgrims and tourists visiting Ayodhya, emphasising that the revamped infrastructure is poised to meet the growing demand. He specifically highlighted the naming of the Ayodhya Airport as Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, connecting modern India to the divine grandeur of Ayodhya Dham.
Among the major projects unveiled were the redeveloped Ayodhya Railway Station, the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, and numerous civic infrastructure developments. The Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, post-revamp, is expected to handle a substantial increase in passengers, from the current 10,000 to an estimated 60,000.
The newly inaugurated Maharishi Valmiki International Airport's Phase 1, developed at a cost of over Rs 1450 crore, is equipped to handle around 10 lakh passengers annually. The airport, with its state-of-the-art facilities and sustainable features, is expected to contribute significantly to the region's tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for various initiatives, including a greenfield township, Vashishtha Kunj Residential Scheme, and crucial road infrastructure developments. These projects are poised to redefine Ayodhya's cultural and civic landscape.
In a broader context, the Prime Minister inaugurated and dedicated several projects across Uttar Pradesh, including road developments, sewage treatment plants, and capacity enhancement of LPG plants. The emphasis on infrastructural development is seen as a strategic move to boost the state's overall growth and connectivity.
As part of the rail infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Rooma Chakeri-Chanderi third line project, sections of the Jaunpur-Ayodhya-Barabanki doubling project, and the Malhaur-Daliganj railway section doubling and electrification project.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi urged all 140 crore Indians to light Shri Ram Jyoti, marking a historical moment and calling for a collective resolution to propel the country forward. He reiterated his commitment to Ayodhya's development, emphasising that no effort will be spared in transforming the holy city into a symbol of progress and heritage.
