PM GatiShakti's 81st Meeting Evaluates Key Infrastructure Projects
NPG reviews five critical road and aviation projects across India to enhance multimodal transport and regional growth
The 81st meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) under the PM GatiShakti initiative was held under the chairmanship of Shri Rajeev Singh Thakur, Additional Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The meeting evaluated five crucial infrastructure projects from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) for their alignment with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP).
The projects, which include greenfield and brownfield developments in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir, aim to improve regional connectivity, enhance socio-economic development, and promote tourism and trade. These projects were assessed for their integrated planning, last-mile connectivity, and intermodal development, key principles under the PM GatiShakti framework.
Vrindavan Bypass, Uttar Pradesh
The 16.75 km Vrindavan Bypass will connect NH-44 to the Yamuna Expressway, significantly reducing travel time from 1.5 hours to 15 minutes. The project is expected to ease traffic congestion in Vrindavan, boost tourism, and promote industrial growth in the region.
Sandalpur-Badi Road, Madhya Pradesh
A 142.26 km 4-lane highway project, part of NH-146B, will improve connectivity between Indore and Jabalpur, reducing traffic congestion and facilitating economic and tourist development along the route.
Junnar-Taleghar Road and Bhimashankar-Rajgurunagar Road, Maharashtra
Two brownfield road upgrade projects in Maharashtra aim to enhance connectivity and improve access for cargo and passengers. The Junnar-Taleghar Road (55.94 km) will boost tourism to Bhimashankar and Junnar, while the Bhimashankar-Rajgurunagar Road (60.45 km) will facilitate economic activities and improve access to healthcare and education in remote areas.
New Integrated Terminal At Srinagar Airport, Jammu and Kashmir
A brownfield project for the development of a new integrated terminal at Srinagar Airport will expand passenger handling capacity to 10 million annually, enhancing regional air connectivity and promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
These infrastructure developments are expected to contribute significantly to nation-building by fostering socio-economic growth, improving connectivity, and enhancing the ease of living across the regions involved.
