The Ministry of Coal, in collaboration with its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), has showcased exceptional achievements in procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for the fiscal year 2023-24. This accomplishment underscores the Ministry's commitment to adopting efficient and transparent procurement practices.
As of 10 December 2023, in the ongoing fiscal year, the provisional procurement by the Ministry and its CPSEs on GeM has reached an impressive Rs. 34,524 crore. This not only surpasses the set target of Rs. 21,325 crore but also reflects a remarkable 162 per cent achievement rate.
GeM authorities have highlighted that Coal India and its subsidiaries are leading among all CPSEs in the country in GeM procurement. Additionally, the Ministry of Coal currently holds the second position in overall procurement through GeM among all Central Ministries/Departments. It is anticipated that by the end of this financial year, the Ministry of Coal will secure the top position overall.
This achievement serves as a testament to the Ministry's dedication to enhancing procurement processes, embracing digital solutions, and contributing significantly to the nation's economic growth. The Ministry of Coal continues to set benchmarks in efficient governance, establishing itself as a leader in procurement practices within the government sector.
