As preparations intensify for the upcoming consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) assumed control of security at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport on Wednesday. The security unit, led by a Deputy Commandant rank officer, took charge in a formal induction ceremony held on 10 January 2024. The event was graced by Vijay Prakash, Inspector General, CISF APS Headquarters, and Vinod Kumar, Airport Director. Representatives from airline operators and various stakeholders were also present to mark this crucial transition in ensuring the safety of the airport.

24/7 Security Coverage: The CISF is set to provide round-the-clock security coverage at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, further fortifying its security infrastructure. Total Airports under CISF Security: With this addition, the total number of airports under the protective umbrella of the CISF has reached 68 as of the current date. Shift from UP Police: Prior to this takeover, security cover at the airport was provided by the Uttar Pradesh Police, including the responsibility of frisking passengers flying out of the holy city.
