In a significant boost to infrastructure development in Arunachal Pradesh, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced on Wednesday that the Centre has approved Rs 1,782 crore for the construction of a crucial road project in the northeastern state.
The sanctioned funds will be utilised for the construction of an 82-kilometre-long greenfield road, connecting Pango to Jorging in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Nitin Gadkari highlighted that the project would cover package-1 and II, emphasising its strategic importance for the region.
“The proposed project aims to ensure seamless and secure traffic flow, establishing year-round connectivity to the villages in the region, thereby catalysing socio-economic development in the hilly areas of the district,” stated Minister Gadkari.
The strategically crucial road is expected to significantly reduce travel time for security forces, enhancing their efficiency in reaching border areas, Gadkari added.
Expressing his delight over this development, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the special attention given to connectivity enhancement in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, there’s a special focus on enhancing connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh,” Chief Minister Khandu shared on social media.
He further extended his gratitude to Minister Nitin Gadkari for the allocation of Rs 1,782 crore for the construction of the greenfield road in the Upper Siang district.

The strategic road project is expected to ensure seamless connectivity in border areas, fostering socio-economic growth in the region. The reduction in travel time for security forces is anticipated to enhance their operational efficiency, further fortifying the defence infrastructure in the northeastern state.
