Chinese smartphone manufacturer Zopo has launched its flagship smartphone in India - the Zopo Speed 8 at a price tag of Rs 29,999. The phone which the company claims to be the world's first Deca-Core Smartphone will be available in both online and offline platform.
The company said that the premium smartphone is not for the masses. "Many people in India cannot afford to buy a phone which is priced around Rs 30,000. People who don't want to compromise with speed and performance will be our target consumer," said Saahib Bhatia, Associate Manager Operations of Adcom, Zopo's official distributor.
When asked about sales expectation and expansion plans, Bhatia said, "It's a niche product and we only expect to sell a few thousand units every month."
Bhatia added that since their arrival in the country last year, they have expanded in 15 states and in the next 2-3 states they are looking to add 5 more states. "Like this we will have present in more than 200 cities and towns in India. We have already penetrated into 50 per cent of the Indian market."
As of the specification, the smartphone bears 4GB of RAM and comes with 32GB of non-expandable, inbuilt storage.
Other highlights of the Zopo Speed 8 include its 21-megapixel rear camera powered by a Sony IMX230 sensor with f/2.2 aperture that's paired with a dual-LED flash. It sports an 8-megapixel camera at the front that also bears a LED flash module, an f/2.0 aperture, and a OV8856 sensor.
The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM card + Nano-SIM card) Zopo Speed 8 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 400ppi.
The Zopo Speed 8's connectivity options include 4G (with support for Indian LTE bands), Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, Micro-USB, and FM radio.
