With an aim to target young men who want a stylish commuter bike, Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha on Wednesday (April 14) launched its 110 cc bike Saluto RX. The bike is priced at Rs 46,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and offers a mileage of 82kmpl.
“India is the largest two-wheeler market in the world with nearly 16 million units sold last year. It is strategically important for Yamaha," said Masaki Asano, managing director at Yamaha Motor India.
"Being committed to India, the launch of the unique 110CC bike is a clear illustration of Yamaha's endeavour to cater to the aspirations of young India," added Asano.
Beside loaded with a 110 cc engine, the bike produces 7.4bhp of power at 7000rpm and 8.5Nm of torque at 4500rpm. The Yamaha Saluto RX will compete with a bunch of popular commuter bike in the segment like TVS Victor, Hero Splendor Pro and Honda Dream Series.
Yamaha Motor India has reported a 44 per cent growth rate in domestic sales in March 2016 as compared to the same period last year. The company sold 60,032 units in March 2016 as against 41,640 units sold in March last year.
For the year ended March 31, Yamaha's witnessed an impressive growth of 15 per cent in sales to 651,408 units much above the average industry growth of 3 per cent.
