Meta Platforms, the parent company of WhatsApp, said that it has successfully resolved the connectivity issues that were affecting the popular messaging app on Wednesday.
The restoration was confirmed after thousands of users worldwide reported problems accessing the platform, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
According to Downdetector, at one point during the outage, there were more than 37,000 incidents reported by users in the United States. Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, over 177,000 users reported facing similar troubles, and nearly 15,000 users in India also encountered connectivity problems with the messaging app.
In response to the disruptions, Meta's status dashboard earlier indicated that they were experiencing difficulties with "receiving incoming messages and message delivery on WhatsApp." The incident resulted in a significant number of users encountering issues while using the messaging service in various countries.
After the successful restoration, the WhatsApp Twitter account posted a tweet reassuring users that the service was back to normal, encouraging them to "happy chatting."
