You must be noticing your mobile phone beeping frequently with text messages to offer discounts. With the new tax regime, goods and services tax into effect, marketers are all set to woo customers, yet again, with post GST offers.
Westside, the flagship store of Tata Group's retail arm Trent, is offering upto 60 percent off and extra 5 percent discount on purchases above Rs 5000.
Another retailer, Max Fashion has halved the prices of its goods. "Mitron, enjoy flat 50 percent and extra 5 percent cashback on tons of new styles...," reads a text message by the brand imitating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet word, Mitron, which he uses to address his visible and invisible audience.
The discount spree does not end here. Country's another leading fashion retailer, Shoppers Stop, has invited all its customers with loyalty cards to avail flat 50 percent discount. "Offer on selected range and brands," company said in its offer message.
While the discounts continue to rain post the introduction of GST as well, premium brands such as Zara, H&M, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, among others had already begun with the end of season sale. Michael Kors, for instance, is selling products at a flat 40 per cent discount. Similarly, Titan, has been calling its loyalty programme customers to avail off a flat 30 per cent discount across categories.
Mall owners also have been cashing in on the season. Rajendra Kalkar, president of western region of Mumbai based The Phoenix Mills Limited said the pre-GST sales have received an overwhelming response. "To further incentivise and create a compelling customer experience at the mall, we have rolled out assured rewards for purchases made over Rs. 1 Lakh with an assured reward of Rs. 25,000 and on a purchase of Rs 2 Lakhs an assured reward of Rs. 50,000," he said.
