Frank Reichart, Senior Director, Global Product Marketing Storage, Fujitsu, talks about his company's business and digital transformation in India.
In a technology driven company, what are the main challenges that you still have to address internally and externally?We are part of the digital economy which forces and enables us to transform the internal IT from alignment to enablement. Digital Transformation is more about changing the models and not only making the existing ones more efficient.
Internally the main challenges are:
Business and customer perspective become more important for IT
Manage the change from a traditional view as cost driver and hygiene factor to a business enabler
Build new interfaces to other business units
Create sustainable cross-functional teams and new skill profiles
Re-define the roles of CIOs and IT to drive the Digital Transformation.
What are the products and services that you are offering to your clients, particularly in India?In India, we are capable to deliver the entire ICT portfolio of Fujitsu. From product perspective we are geared to deliver the products and solution related to Servers, Storage, Integrated Solutions, Workstation, Thin Client, Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, Scanners, Security products & solution, Ubiquitous products & solutions.
In services we offer Managed Integrated Services, Professional Services, Business Application Services & Product Related Services.
What are the strategies that you are following to sustain the journey of your organization in India?Solution based ICT journey, more focused on high RAS offering. Higher customer intimacy by offering world class services along with product and solution offering. By 2020 we are trying to reach more than 20 cities of India with our direct presence. By CY 2016 end, we shall have fully operational HPC competency centre running more 3,000 cores. Expansion in India GDC, acquiring new skill sets, new technology offering like IOT.
According to you, how does a CIO play an important role in the organisation?We are working on several global initiatives such as transition of internal systems to our K5 Cloud. The recent announcement in the press about the move to Office 365 and the expected growth plans of doubling the related external business underlines our strategic direction and position of the CIO office in the organization:
IT will drive the innovation of Fujitsu Group and connect it to the new business opportunities.
We will thoroughly utilize latest technology, products, and services (including those provided by our partners) to establish internal showcases.
We will communicate the value of these showcases to customers.
We look at entire organizations across the enterprise. Using this 360 degree view, IT will take a leading role to connect the entire Fujitsu organization, Regions, Business Units, and R&D to realize One Fujitsu.
What is Fujitsu's approach to stay ahead of the competition and do innovation in products and services?We integrate new technologies seamlessly into product family concepts. Example: the management tools of our new ERTERNUS AF all-flash systems re 100% compatible with those of our disk systems. Thus we can provide more value to the customer due to better operational efficiency. Whereas other vendors drop new tech disruptively on the market generating higher admin cost by incompatible product lines.
