Indian consumers are again going to see a new foreign smartphone player coming up with its products, and this time from Vietnam. Vietnamese smartphone brand Mobiistar is all set to enter the Indian market this month with their affordable smartphone.
Vietnamese handset company Mobiistar is set to foray into the Indian market later this month with its range of smartphones and will compete against giants like Samsung and Xiaomi.
The company is expected to launch a smartphone under sub 10,000 category. The upcoming handset is expected to have a Qualcomm processor and dual selfie cameras.
"We have studied the Indian market and seen that the Rs 6,000-10,000 (smartphone segment) is growing at a strong pace and we want to bring in our products which offers a better price to specs ratio to the users," Mobiistar Group CEO Carl Ngo told.
He added that Mobiistar will bring about 5-6 devices in the next few months in the Indian market. The company is currently talking with leading e-commerce websites for selling smartphones online. However, Mobiistar phones will be available through offline stores as well in the future.
For local assembling of the phones, the company has partnered with V-Sun Technologies, which have their manufacturing unit at Haryana.
Mobiistar also plans to have up to 750 service outlets from the day one of launch, which it will increase to 1,000 centres after three months.
According to Ngo, Mobiistar is among top five handset vendors in Vietnam and has expanded to South East Asia with countries like Cambodia. He added that Mobiistar will soon enter the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region as well.
The company currently has a team of about 40 people in India and intends to increase it to 200 people in the next few months.
