US Lauds India's Commitment To Achieve 450 GW Of RE By 2030

The United States on Monday lauded India's commitment to achieve 450 GW of Renewable Energy by 2030. Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh met a delegation led by John Kerry, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate to discuss collaboration on climate change issues and working towards a genuine partnership between the two countries.

The US side also lauded India for electrifying 28.02 million homes in 18 months and achieving  universal household electrification.

Power Minister acknowledged that the biggest challenge for infusing of renewable energy was “Storage” which needs immediate attention to make power accessible to the masses. He also informed that huge bids for Green Hydrogen and Electrolysers are planned in the coming months and requested the US side to encourage the participation of their companies in the bidding process.

The Power Minister highlighted that over 800 million people across the world do not have access to electricity and urged the US side to join the International Solar Alliance which can benefit many countries.

John Kerry proposed that USA is willing to enter into a genuine collaboration with India and both the countries could take a Global Leadership role on the Energy Transition front and show the rest of the world that ambitious RE targets can be achieved.
