TVS Motor Company’s newly launched 160cc bike – the all-new 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, will be having two main rivals in the said segment in India. It will compete with Honda X Blade, and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
The new TVS is based on the TVS Apache RTR 165 - six-time Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) winning motorcycle.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is available in both Carburetor and EFI variants.
The newly launched bike boasts of a top speed of 114kmph (EFI), and 113kmph (Carburetor). It accelerates from 0-100kmph in 16.6 seconds (EFI) and 15.9 seconds (Carburetor).
The motorcycle boasts of a compact race design with chequered flag decals on the tank.
From styling perspective, the Apache has aggressive naked headlamp that has snake fangs inspired LED DRLs, fully-digital interactive speedometer, aerodynamically modelled street-fighter inspired muscular design, chiseled body and a sleek, sharp tail.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V series is available in three colours, namely, Racing Red, Metallic Blue and Knight Black.
Honda X Blade
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched its all new 160cc bike – the Honda X-Blade, in the country for Rs 78,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The bike has been aimed at millennials and Gen-Z, and with X-Blade Honda aspires to create a new benchmark in the 160cc motorcycle segment.
It has first-in-class futuristic looking Robo-Face LED headlamps with aggressive styling. Some other features of Honda X-Blade are street tech digital meter with displays like service due indicator and gear position indicator, dual outlet muffler, razor edged LED tail lamp, aggressive sculpted tank design, and 130mm wide rear tyre with hugger fender for extended road grip.
It even sports monoshock suspension, long seat, sharply designed grab rail to highlight the rear, hazard switch flashing indicator lights, and low maintenance seal cabin.
The X-Blade will be available in 5 colours – Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Frozen Silver Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black, and Matte Marshal Green Metallic.
Bajaj Pulsar NS160
It comes equipped with 160.3cc 4-stroke, SOHC 4-valve, oil-cooled, DTS-I engine that churns out 15.5PS @ 8500rpm, and 14.6Nm @ 6500rpm.
Bajaj Auto is offering three body paint options for Pulsar NS160 – Sapphire Blue, Fossil Grey, and Wild Red.
The bike measures 2012mm X 803.5mm X 1060mm, with 176mm of ground clearance, 1363mm of wheelbase, and 142kg of kerb weight.
