Triumph Motorcycles India has launched its all-new 2018 Triumph Tiger line up in the country in three variants – XR (Rs 11.76 lakh), XRx (Rs 13.13 lakh), and XCx (Rs 13.76 lakh).
The Triumph Tiger 800 will compete with Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s Africa Twin in the country.
All New Triumph Tiger 800
The new variant has received major updates in the form of over 200 upgrades to the chassis and engine, new shorter ratio 1st gear, new lighter, free-flowing silencer with improved exhaust note, new “Off Road Pro” riding mode, with a choice of up to six riding modes, and new five position adjustable screen.
Technology wise, new adjustable full colour TFT instruments, new signature LED lighting, new illuminated, ergonomically designed, backlit switchgear and five-way joystick control, and new updated cruise control.
Design and styling wise, Triumph Tiger 800 has got new premium bodywork, new high quality badges, graphics and detailing, and new colours.
Technicalities wise, the bike retains the same specifications as the previous model. It comes equipped with 800cc liquid-cooled, 12 valve, DOHC, in-line 3 cylinder engine that churns out 70kW @ 9250rpm and 79Nm @ 7850rpm. The engine is mated to six speed transmission.
It measures 2215mm X 795mm X 1350mm, with 1530mm of wheelbase, 810-830mm of seat height, and 19 litres of fuel tank capacity.
Honda Africa Twin
Priced at Rs 13, 06,927, it sports 999.11cc liquid-cooled, 4 stroke, SI engine that churns out 65kW @ 7500rpm and 91.9Nm @ 6000rpm. The engine is mated to six speed transmission with maximum speed of 190km/hr.
Africa Twin measures 2334mm X 932mm X 1478mm, with 1574mm of wheelbase, 250mm of ground clearance, 840mm-820mm of seat height, and 18.8 litres of fuel tank capacity.
The Africa Twin bears Rally style, highly informative LCD display including the Speedometer, Tachometer, Fuel, Gear position, ABS, HSTC, Odometer, Trip and Clock.
Africa twin bears a Twin Lamp LED Headlight. The indicators and the tail light of the Africa Twin also have LED lights.
