Hard work and material success does not ensure attainment of happiness. Sometimes, happiness or ananda remains perpetually out of reach to even the most successful and rich person since this success only brings cars, houses and material luxuries.
Happiness means subjective wellbeing and positive emotions. Persons with greater wellbeing are more satisfied with their lives, and experience more positive emotions. Excitement, joy, and serenity promote success in the workplace. Happier people are more satisfied with their jobs, receive greater support from co-workers and better performance evaluations from their supervisors. Moreover, people who are made to feel positive emotions are capable of setting greater goals, persist at challenging tasks for longer, view themselves and others more favourably, and definitely believe that they will succeed.
How can this be achieved in a business environment? A leadership that can provide for its workers and staff a platform that includes balancing of energies, removing deficiencies in the work environment as well as establishing harmony with Mother Nature besides communicating a clear and transparent administration can achieve even the most difficult goals.
This environment can be achieved by either self-study or by External Interventions that take into account the real meaning of happiness and suffering, purpose of life, karmas, planetary influences, as well as the leadership’s roles and responsibilities. Sometimes self-study may not work in the desired direction because of lack of understanding of the energies in the surroundings as well as shortage of time. Applications of the External Intervention tools will push the energy level of the business environment to greater heights thus ensuring overall development and growth.
Firstly, overall development and growth of any organization depends largely on the direction that the development and growth of the leader/chairman will undergo. In other words, the wellbeing of the leader/chairman is a necessary qualification for the organization to grow in the right direction because the environment that the organization receives comes directly from his nature and his subconscious.
Since the human body is an electro-chemical-bio system which is constantly interacting with the surroundings, it cannot be ruled out that each thought that emanates from the leader is basically a frequency that interacts with the surroundings that includes people and the workplace. Therefore, efforts should be made that the frequency of the thought should resonate with the frequency of the surroundings and vice versa for a proper balance in an organization.
Secondly, to increase the wellbeing of an organization it is necessary to enhance the wellbeing of its people. This can be achieved when the organization is guided by pure and ego-less intellect that will provide it with focus and foresight. Focus is like the intensity of a falling stream and foresight is making of way through the mountains and valleys into plains for that stream to complete its journey. Focus ensures that only one job is done at one time and that there are no multilayered decisions and demands that can tend to dilute the original vision.
Having a lofty vision is alright. But one’s decision should be guided by temporal demands to turn it into success. Success comes when you have mastered to deliver to the right demands at the right time. These decisions are actions taken by the leadership.
Thirdly, actions that are conducted with both heart and head enhance the quality of success and provide overall growth and happiness. The heart aspect contains a goodwill attitude consisting of compassion, equanimity as well as mental and physical health. The heart aspect examines the cause and effect of the decisions and actions that are taken.
Lastly, every individual and organization is constantly working toward excellence. But excellence can only be achieved through right living and not by overlapping and/or fluctuations that can lead to confusion. Right living would mean focusing and recognizing the value of work done, quality of production, rewards and punishments, ethical decisions, recognition of the people behind the goals and not the goals itself, and most importantly, establishing a rhythm with Nature by following the Natural Laws even in a technologically advanced organization. Remember, these Natural Laws are the lighthouses that should guide the leadership for the achievement of both organizational success and individual happiness.
