At the BW Businessworld Growth Leadership Conclave and Awards 2018: From SMEs to Unicorns, the Chief Guest was Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Speaking about the MSME sector in India, Singh said, "Our Entrepreneur never runs away and watching this, PM Narendra Modi has shown his faith in them. We will be making the corpus fund for around Rs 8000 crore very soon. It's only the larger level industrialists who run away. We asked MDI to do a study and do a lot of tasks to bring order to the situation. We are concerned a lot, to get rid of NPA's and we are doing the level best to get away from it."
He also added, "I need to remind you that MSME plays such a large role that Dhirubhai Ambani cannot be termed better than MSMEs, to be the backbone of the Indian economy. A few pay one lakh and few pay more than a lakh for the service but this is what we got to know through the MDI's survey. Members of Parliament, Chief Ministers are focussed on MSME because their efforts to create more employment otherwise is getting down. One should commend the PM of India that he has raised this aspect of creating more employment in the nation". He also went on to add, "The nation's economic status is directly proportional to how MSME performs. Once the MSME sector does well it will improve on its own. The grievance is also working on the timely basis and we are working on small and little queries that can shape the future of this sector."
Singh also said, "The ease of doing business has crossed the barrier of greeting people with garland, it's a one window ease and it's the major cause of our rankings in ease of doing business. It doesn't take more than three minutes that its take with self-declaration to complete formalities in MSME. The day we will have a higher than 60 per cent partnership in GDP contribution, no one will stop the nation's progress and that will be at par with McCalley's education policies."
This was followed by the launch of the SME Whitebook, and then the award ceremony.
