L’Opéra, a French bakery and pastry brand, has teamed up with Old World Hospitality’s “Chor Bizarre” to open a Salon de Thé at Bikaner House, a heritage property at a marquee location, has been attracting visitors with its charm, cultural significance and artistry.
Laurent Samandari, co-founder and Managing Director, revealed, “Bikaner House is a place where people want to get together in a cosy yet classy environment, enjoy world-class refinement and distinctly delicious food".
The menu, exclusively available at L’Opéra Salon de Thé by Chor Bizarre, reflects the diversity of the experiences one can have there, such as a new variety of coffees, soups, salads, a range of Feuilletés, lasagne and light French meals.
He further added, "For all kinds of arts, business and academia, will now host our new Salon de Thé where one can have stirring conversations and enjoyable moments, whether it is for quick meetings or prolonged get-togethers, both indoors and outdoors, all within a refined ambience only L’Opéra knows how to bring about".

L’Opéra’s Executive Chef Amit Sinha talks more about his creations, and what patrons can expect from the new savoury meals.
“I designed the menu,” told Amit Sinha, L’Opéra’s Executive Chef, “with gatherings in mind, given the kind of space we offer.” With bustling Khan Market a two-minute drive away, the recently restored Bikaner House is now a sort of oasis of tranquillity at the heart of Lutyens Delhi. “The menu items I have introduced reflect the diversity of the experiences one can have at our Salon de Thé, such as a new variety of coffees, soups, salads, a range of feuilletés, lasagna and light French meals.”
L’Opéra Salon de Thé by Chor Bizarre is a mix of old-fashioned dining and a modern touch of elegance.
“The Vegetable Feuilleté, a French must-have due to its incomparable flakiness, is made with lightly seasoned puff pastry and fresh vegetables.
The Chicken Leek Feuilleté, complemented by garlic, cream and herbs are as delicate as it is wholesome, with subtle herbs. The Mushroom Feuilleté, complemented with onion, garlic, mixed herbs and peas is the perfect hearty vegetarian option, whereas the Cheese & Tomato Feuilleté, a Mediterranean delight made with sundried tomatoes and béchamel sauce, is the softer yet equally exquisite option.
The Mutton Lasagna, is a classic Italian meat dish, with fresh tomato, oregano and fine béchamel sauce, while its lighter but equally enticing variant, the Vegetable Lasagna, is made with select tomatoes, fresh broccoli, zucchini, peas and carrots, and a touch of rosemary and garlic.
One often overlooked but the heartwarming food is soup; and the French certainly like a delicate Beetroot Soup, smooth, creamy beetroot combined with an earthy freshness. As does our new Tomato Soup, gently seasoned and minimally spiced.
“I have no doubt patrons will enjoy the savoir-faire and dedication the team and I have exerted for this new venture and am looking forward to our Salon de Thé being the new go-to place for the simple yet refined French fare, as only L’Opéra can deliver!” declares Laurent.
Last but not the least, making an appearance on the menu are classic French favourites Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame. These delicious sandwiches, created with pork ham, milk bread and melting cheese inside and on top (and a fried egg on top for Croque Madame) are a treat for any lover of French food.
