Taiwan has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India to facilitate the employment of migrant workers, anticipating India to emerge as a fresh pool of workforce for the country.
The signed contract will enable Taiwan to regulate the number of Indian workers entering the country and allocate them to designated industries. In return, India has committed to recruiting and providing training to this workforce based on Taiwan's requirements.
The Taiwan Ministry announced that it will notify legislators about the MoU and hold discussions with Indian officials. It emphasised that after all the required arrangements are finalised, Taipei will formally appoint India as a new source of migrant workers.
This pact is expected to be advantageous for both countries since they are contending with labor-related challenges. Taiwan is confronting the dilemma of an aging population, prompting a need to boost its workforce. Conversely, India is dealing with a separate concern - its economy is not growing fast enough to create an adequate number of job opportunities for the numerous young people entering the job market each year.
