Supreme Court Questions NTA Over NEET-UG Malpractices

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) about issues with the NEET-UG results. Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, who are handling the case, said, "The sanctity has been affected, so we need answers." They also stated that the counselling process would continue and scheduled the next hearing for July 8.

The complaint against the NTA claims that the May 5 NEET-UG exam had malpractices, including multiple paper leaks. This is seen as a violation of Article 14 (right to equality) of the Constitution because it gave some candidates an unfair advantage.

There are also concerns about the results announced on June 4, where 67 candidates shared the first rank, including six from the same centre in Haryana. The allocation of grace marks to some candidates is also being questioned.

In response, the NTA has set up a committee to review the results of 1,563 candidates from various locations, including Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Chandigarh. It is alleged that candidates at these centres received grace marks due to 'loss of time.'
