Budget carrier SpiceJet has added three new flights and six new frequencies to its summer schedule, offering more seats connecting key metros and cities as a part of its enhanced network from March 27.
With the introduction of the summer schedule, the airline will increase its operation to 306 daily flights from 240 flights it operated last summer.
"Our new summer schedule is an extension of our existing strategy that will cater to the robust market demand for the coming holiday season," said Shilpa Bhatia, senior vice-president, commercial of SpiceJet.
To cater to the peak summer rush, from March to October, SpiceJet has launched direct flights for sectors like Mumbai-Udaipur, Tirupati-Vijayawada, and Vijayawada-Vishakhapatnam.
The airline has also enhanced the frequencies to cater to both leisure and business travellers.
The low-cost carrier has added second frequency on the Delhi– Srinagar route, fourth frequency on the Hyderabad-Chennai and Hyderabad-Bengaluru routes to meet the growing demand in domestic market.
SpiceJet is also connecting international destinations like Dubai, Bangkok and Colombo to its famous southern cities like Vijaywada and Tirupati via Chennai and Hyderabad.
The airline has also increased its seating capacity on various domestic routes by undertaking an equipment upgradation from Bombardier Q400, which has a seating capacity of 78 seats, to Boeing 737 which can accommodate up to 186 passengers on the Pune-Goa and Delhi-Dehradun sectors.
SpiceJet continues to lead on passenger load factor for tenth successive month, leaving behind all Indian carriers with 92.3 per cent PLF for the month of February 2016, as per the data released by DGCA.
The airline has also improved its on-time performance (OTP) for the month of February with 77.7 per cent as compared with 74.7 per cent during January 2016.
SpiceJet operated 293 daily flights and carried 9.76 lakh passengers during the month thereby registering a market share of 13.1 per cent.
