Samsung has unveiled new mid-range smartphones Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018). The major highlights A8 and A8+ are dual front cameras and Infinity display. Both smartphones will be available from January 2018.
Both smartphones run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and powered by an Octa-core processor (unspecified). A8 has 4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB internal storage, the bigger A8+ is available in two RAM+storage configurations of 4GB+32GB and 6GB+64GB. The storage on both devices is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card.
Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ sport 16-megapixel+8-megapixel dual front camera with f/1.9 aperture with which you can take Portrait selfies. There’s also a Live Focus feature which lets you adjust bokeh effect.
On the rear side is a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture and LED flash. Samsung has also introduced new video digital image stabilisation (VDis) technology and hyperlapse feature. Talking about the display, Samsung Galaxy A8 features a 5.6-inch FHD+ (2220x1080) Super AMOLED display. On the other hand, A8+ has a larger 6-inch FHD+ (2220x1080) Super AMOLED display. Both handset features Infinity Display which has 18.5:9 aspect ratio with lesser bezels.
The smaller A8 is backed by a 3000mAh battery and A8+ by a 3500mAh battery. Both handsets are IP68 rated water and dust resistance. There is a fingerprint sensor below the rear camera which is used to unlock the phone. Both handset will be available in black, orchid grey, and blue.
Connectivity options are- Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, GPS, and Glonass. Samsung Galaxy A8 measures 149.2 x 70.6 x 8.4 mm and weighs 172g; the A8+ is slightly bigger and heavier, it measures 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm and weighs 191g.
