Salman Khan’s much-awaited Race 3 is all set to be released on this Eid. Just like its first two sequels, it is also expected to earn a pretty good collection at the Box Office.
The highlight of Race 3 is that Salman Khan is going to be the part of the Race Franchise for the first time as Saif won’t be there in this sequel of Race. He has played the role of a selfish man Sikander in the movie. In fact, the whole of the star cast is new except Anil Kapoor.
Trade experts and filmmakers undoubtedly agree that when it’s about the mega stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn; satellite rights can be sold very easily just on their names. Trade expert Komal Nahta says, “The price of satellite rights, in the case of big-budget films, is usually decided after their release. If a film producer asks for a huge price (before release), and a channel isn’t willing to pay, then they put in these clauses — if the film earns Rs 100 or Rs 150 crore, the filmmakers will be paid this amount; if it collects Rs 200 crore, then this amount; and so on. Many big actors don’t charge any fees. Their fee is the (share of) satellite rights and profit-sharing.”
Rumours about Salman Khan’s new film, Race 3 are all around, which highlight that the movie is has been made with a budget of Rs 100 crore -120 crore {80 Cr (Production Cost) + 20 Cr (Prints & Publicity) and has already sold its satellite rights at its equivalent of Rs 100* crore much before from the film’s release.
Bollywood trade expert Atul Mohan explaining this says, “Satellite rights mean that a film can be played across any channel that has acquired the rights of the film by paying for it. That channel can also share it with other channels, if it wants. Nowadays, channels have their own online streaming platforms as well, like Hotstar and Voot, from where the content can be monetised.”
