British motorcycle company Royal Enfield has launched its all new cruiser bike – the Thunderbird 350X, in India. While launching the cruiser, the company said it will appeal to new-age urban explorers.
Having a host of new features for a contemporary appeal, Thunderbird 350X will compete with Bajaj Dominar 400.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X
Priced at Rs 156,849 (ex-showroom Delhi), it sports two new colours - Whimsical White, and Roving Red.
Thunderbird 350X comes with a single cylinder, air cooled, twinspark, 346cc engine which produces a maximum power of 19.8bhp @ 5250rpm and generates a maximum torque of 28Nm @ 4000rpm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed transmission.
It comes equipped with newly positioned handlebars, new all-black paint scheme, and Thunderbird X is the first Royal Enfield that has tubeless tires and sturdy alloys.
The bike measures 2040mm X 1140mm X 830mm, with fuel capacity of 20 litres, kerb weight of 195kg, and ground clearance of 135mm.
Bajaj Dominar 400
Available in three colours – Rock Matte Black, Canyon Red, and Glacier Blue, Dominar 400 has been priced at Rs 144, 113 (Disc) and Rs 158,275 (ABS) (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
This is where Dominar 400 has an edge over Thunderbird 350X that it has ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
Equipped with 373.3cc triple spark 4-valve DTS-i liquid cooled engine, it churns out 35PS of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. It accelerates from 0-100km/hr in 8.23 seconds, and mated with a 6-speed transmission.
Features wise, it is armed with fuel injection, full mosaic shaped LED headlamp, reverse LCD split speedometer, low-slung saddle, and 43mm telescopic front forks with dual spring mono suspension.
Dimensions wise, Dominar 400 measures 2156mm X 813mm X 1112mm, with 1453mm of wheelbase, 157mm of ground clearance, 182kg of kerb weight, and 13 litres of fuel capacity.
