Dear Rahul Gandhi,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits.
I am writing to you today not merely as a Member of Parliament but as a responsible citizen of our great nation, India (Bharat). In a diverse and vibrant country like ours, the responsibilities you shoulder as the opposition's front-runner leader are indeed extensive. While we may differ in our approaches, I hold the conviction that the well-being and reputation of our beloved motherland should remain paramount, transcending the realm of politics.
As you know, since 2014, our peripatetic Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken numerous initiatives to enhance India’s capabilities in the realm of soft power diplomacy. He is uncompromisingly intensifying strategic, cultural, diplomatic, and economic relations with nations across the globe. Undisputedly, our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only Indian leader who has shown significant enthusiasm for this goal. I firmly believe that we should not underestimate the importance of soft power. Even our beloved Mahatma Gandhi used it, in the form of non-violence and satyagraha, to win India’s Independence.
It is my belief that ethical, truthful, and respectful communication forms the bedrock of successful relationships. So, I must say that as responsible citizens of India (Bharat), while you are having interactions, especially with international representatives and the Indian diaspora abroad, you should refrain from creating false imagery, as it not only tarnishes our image but also casts a shadow on our nation's identity on the global stage.
I acknowledge the pressures intrinsic to your roles and responsibilities, but you should refrain from imposing your groundless assumptions and fictitious narratives, devoid of any factual basis, which undermine the credibility we seek to uphold.
Our nation's citizens have shown a predilection for collaborative and democratic discourse, eschewing a dictatorial and monolithic approach. The re-election of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in 2019 underscored this sentiment, as responsible citizens opted for a progressive leader over a political figure associated with dynastic politics. It is essential to recognise that the torchbearers of our freedom struggle and the architects of our nation's foundation vehemently opposed dynastic politics. I have always seen how those who oppose dynastic politics are treated with hatred. In the 21st century, you should not favour feudalism, where the big leaders and their sons and daughters occupy top positions.
In the past nine years, India (Bharat) has evolved significantly, mirroring the growth of its citizenry. The youth, constituting the dynamic force propelling our nation forward, possess an unwavering belief in our collective potential. I urge you to abstain from politically motivated communications that may divert them from the constructive path they ardently envision.
The current era demands the decolonisation of our mindset and a resolute commitment to the spirit of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India). Let us harness the power of positivity and unity as we navigate the challenges of the 21st century—a period that will invariably shape the destiny of our nation for generations to come. It is my observation that the discerning citizens of India (Bharat) now gravitate towards a development-oriented agenda rather than politically motivated agendas. Regrettably, the opposition seems ensnared by an atmosphere of distrust, blinding them to the trust bestowed upon them by the people.
Embracing our present reality, we find ourselves fortunate to have a vocal, principled Prime Minister who staunchly upholds his convictions, devoid of external influence. Our nation stands proud as a bastion of integrity. Our citizens embody resilience, determination, and a determined spirit that propels them towards progress and prosperity.
You need to understand and accept that in the life and history of any nation, there comes a time when it breaks free from old constraints and takes steps forward with new energy, new aspirations, new dreams, and new resolutions. In a changing world, the impact of the changes that are happening will affect this country for the next thousand years. The efforts of the 1.4 billion countrymen in this era, with their achievements, efforts, strength, and capabilities, will lay a strong foundation for the coming 1,000 years. Therefore, in this era, we all have a great responsibility to have a single focus: the development of the nation. The demand of the time is to unite wholeheartedly to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the country and to turn determination into success. The collective strength of the 1.4 billion citizens of this nation can elevate us to great heights.
In conclusion, I beseech you to channel your energy positively, constructively, and productively for the betterment of our nation. I implore you to refrain from tarnishing our nation's global image and from disorienting the aspirations of our youth. By embracing our rich cultural heritage, endorsing a collective decolonization movement, and nurturing unwavering faith in our national transformation, rooted in the ideals of a developed Bharat, we can forge a path towards unity and prosperity.
As a responsible citizen, I urge you to join the Bharat transformation movement, which has been ongoing since 2014 under the able leadership of our beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
With warm regards,
Dr Anil Agrawal
