After the launch of Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro in India, Xiaomi is going to add another budget smartphone Redmi 5 in their portfolio. Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 5 at 3 pm on Wednesday (14 March) in India.
E-commerce giant Amazon has also revealed that Redmi 5 will be an Amazon exclusive. Along with Amazon, Redmi 5 will also be available through Mi.com and Mi Homes across India. Redmi 5 is expected to be launched at a price of around Rs 8,000.
Redmi 5 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor. The handset might be available in three RAM variants of 2GB/3GB/4GB. It has 16GB/32GB of internal storage.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch FHD (1440 x 720) display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. The smartphone will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. On the front a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery; there is also a fingerprint sensor below the rear camera for unlocking the device.
Connectivity options include- dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Infrared, USB, 4G VoLTE, GPS, and GLONASS. The smartphone measures 151.8 x 72.8 x 7.7mm and weighs 157 grams.
