Praphul Misra has launched Oi media (Our Initiative Media Pvt Ltd) and has taken over as its Managing Director. His aims at Oi media is to help the OOH Media industry improve its position in the media eco-system by harnessing information technology to enhance the ease of doing business.
He aspires do so by offering proprietary technology, that is backed by quantifiable and measurable metrics, to clients, agencies and suppliers. The stakeholders will be able to use smart, easy-to-use tools to not only cut their enquiry-to-quotation, and execution-to-billing cycle times, but will also be enabled to improve their campaign effectiveness and yield.
Praphul brings with him a rich experience in launching and developing three successful start-ups. In 1993, he played a key role in setting up The WorldMark Group, Inc, Dallas TX, a market research and consulting firm in the US.
After successfully launching and placing The WorldMark Group on a growth trajectory, he returned to India in 1996 to help start Result: McCann, the direct marketing agency of McCann-Erickson India, now known as MRM Worldwide, as its director planning & development. He successfully led Result: McCann to place it among the top 3 within 5 years, before moving on to kick-start NetCarrots as an intrapreneur in 2001.
Frequent interaction with media service providers and client brands, at McCann and NetCarrots, gave Praphul a rich exposure and insights into the OOH eco-system. Lately, he began to feel that the market was ready for a disruptive model in the OOH media space. With a succession plan panning out well at NetCarrots, Praphul decided to switch roles from being the Chief Executive to that of a Mentor and began to look for supporters who would be willing to back his idea of a disruptive model. Given his background and success with three start-ups, the investors' interest came in early and Oi media is already funded for the seed stage.
