Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah are going to hold a crucial meeting with the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 14 Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states. The Meeting will start at 4 PM on 28th February.
Such Chief Ministers Council meetings, which have become a tradition since PM Modi rose to power in 2014. As per a statement issued to press by MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the issue of simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls would also be discussed.
It is not the first occasion when this kind of gathering is taking place. A meeting was held in April last year. However, the meeting this year looks important as a number of issues ahead of Lok Sabha elections are likely to be discussed.
Along with routine strategies relating to polls, discussions regarding the implementation of various Central and state development schemes, and measures to expedite them are likely to come up during the meet. Meeting may see discussion around Jan-Dhan, Mudra, Ujjwala, and housing schemes, reports India Today.
Highlighting the significance of the meet, the party has sent a five-point note to its functionaries and asked them to come prepared for the meeting. The chief ministers and their staff have been asked to present the status of implementation of Central schemes targeting the poor, IANS reports.
