PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park is set to generate over 3,00,000 jobs, providing a significant boost to Gujarat's economy.
These Parks will be established in key states such as Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. With an envisaged investment of Rs 70,000 crore and the potential to generate 20 lakh jobs, PM MITRA Park holds the promise of not only economic revitalisation but also a paradigm shift in India's textile industry.
The establishment of seven PM MITRA Parks will encompass both Greenfield and Brownfield sites.
Gujarat's textile heritage spans centuries, cementing its reputation as a prominent supplier of textiles both domestically and internationally. It boasts the largest cotton production in India, covering approximately 25.54 lakh hectares of land.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, identified a key challenge in the textile industry. He observed that the fragmented production chain led to elevated logistical expenses, subsequently inflating the cost of the final product.
Aligned with PM’s 5F vision (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign), the PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park scheme is a major step by the Government of India to revolutionize India’s textile sector.
