Travellers to the UAE equipped with the PhonePe app can now breeze through digital payments, thanks to the latest integration. PhonePe users now have the convenience of making UPI payments at Mashreq's NEOPAY terminals. By simply scanning the QR code at these terminals and entering the amount, payments are swiftly completed in seconds.
In a recent announcement by PhonePe, it was revealed that Mashreq's NEOPAY terminals will now accept UPI apps as a payment option. This collaboration between NPCI International Payment and Mashreq Bank aims to enhance payment convenience. Transactions made through NEOPAY terminals will reflect in rupees, with users provided with transparent information regarding the exchange rate applied for the transaction.
NEOPAY terminals are readily available across various retail stores, dining outlets and tourist spots throughout the UAE, ensuring accessibility for users.
Ritesh Pai, CEO of International Payments at PhonePe, expressed, "This collaboration allows customers to conduct transactions effortlessly using UPI, a familiar payment method."
PhonePe also hinted at its intention to introduce inward remittance services once the corridor for such transactions is established.
Vibhor Mundhada, CEO of NEOPAY, emphasized that this launch underscores their commitment to integrating innovation and technology into their services, aimed at delivering enhanced solutions and experiences for customers.
How does it work?
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with UAE mobile numbers can leverage this service. To initiate payments, they need to download the PhonePe app and link their existing NRE and NRO accounts. This streamlined process ensures seamless transactions for users.
This initiative by PhonePe is geared towards enhancing transaction convenience for the Indian diaspora residing in the UAE.
