CRISIL has partnered with IIM Calcutta for a two-year work-cum-study program for graduate professionals in the financial services industry. The program will allow professionals to learn and work on live projects and assignments with CRISIL
Talking further about the program Anupam Kaura, CHRO, CRISIL India shares his viewpoints about skilling to create future workforce, assessment plan for the program, and job offers for the candidates selected.
How important is skilling to create workforce and leaders of the future?
To pick raw talent and mould them into world-class professionals is asine qua non (necessary) in our ever-changing competitive environment. CRISIL provides the right platform through the CCAP (CRISIL Certified Analyst Program) program, which is structured to enhance the theoretical knowledge of the employee and give them a practical exposure to the finance industry. Today, every employee needs specialised skill sets. What we look out for is the passion to learn new skills and apply them in analysis so as to create immense value for the client.
Why, and how are specialised courses gaining attraction?
Typically, a business school curriculum gives deep exposure to theoretical finance, but through CCAP, you can opt for specialisation in a particular field from a world-class institute like IIM Calcutta as the academic partner and managed by Times Professional Learning., while being our full-time employee. That’s having the best of both worlds. Specialised courses develop employees into professionals in their domain, who contribute to institution building. When we started the CCAP program in 2007, our vision was – and continues to be – creating a pool of top financial and credit analysts in India. Given the rising strength and stature of the program over the years, we feel vindicated.
How will the students be selected for the course, and what are the job opportunities for them?
Students will go through an aptitude test as their first line of screening. Then they will go through a rigorous group discussion / personal interview across India and the top 50 participants get enrolled for the prestigious program. CRISIL will absorb the selected candidates into one of the ratings, data, research, analytics and solutions business.
How will the students be assessed after completion of the program?
The students are assessed on both academic and work performance. Equal weightage is given to their average CGPA throughout the tenure of the CCAP program and their average work assessment scores. Based on final scores, the final package is offered once students graduate. After completion of the course, students will be evaluated as per the criteria applicable to analysts and consultants.
How has recruitment policies changed with new skills coming up? How will the engagement game change with multiple offers for skilled people?
Acquiring the right talent is key to any organisation’s success. In CCAP, students are gauged on their enthusiasm and willingness to succeed. CRISIL provides multiple trainings to employees as befits their business profiles, hence the preference of the employee is always taken into consideration to provide them with the right exposure. The key to retaining talent lies in understanding their goals and keeping them motivated. With a combination of attractive compensation to the most skilled employees, supported by real work in Analytics, Ratings, Research, Infrastructure Advisory and Risk verticals, and high-quality learning programs, we continue to build moats for our key talent.
