Oneplus has already confirmed the launch of OnePlus 6 (might get a different name) in the second quarter of 2018.
Recently the company’s co-founder Carl Pei confirmed in an interview with The Verge that OnePlus’ upcoming smartphone (OnePlus 6) will have a notch at the top of the display just like iPhone X.
According to Pei, OnePlus’ notch will house the earpiece, front camera, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and probably the pulse notification light.
He said that OnePlus’ notch will be smaller than iPhone X’s and larger than the Essential Phone’s notch. The company also provided the exact measurements of the notch - 19.616 x 7.687mm. OnePlus 6 will have 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

Since the launch of iPhone X, a majority of Android smartphone brands have adopted the similar “notch” design without even reducing the size of phone’s chin.
Pei said, “The only phone in the market that has a notch but sans a chin is the iPhone X and that’s because the iPhone’s “chin is on the back of the phone.”
Apple has successfully made a phone without a chin because they use flexible OLED display that turns internally and it pushes the connection ribbon at the rear of the phone. According to Pei, this is why iPhone X is expensive, little thicker and doesn’t have a chin.
Talking about Android handsets, they have a ribbon at the bottom of the display, which connects the processor for which at least a smaller chin is necessary. This means Android phones will have small chins in the future for some time.
Also, every smartphone company ditching the 3.5mm headphone-jack, it is confirmed that OnePlus 6 will retain headphone jack.
