OnePlus has confirmed that their upcoming flagship smartphone OnePlus 6 will be running on the Google’s latest Android P Beta. The confirmation comes right after Google’s release of Android P Beta at Google I/O 2018.
OnePlus 6 global launch is slated for 16 May in London and India launch is scheduled for May 17.
Famous for delivering fast software updates, OnePlus claimed that their devices OnePlus 5 and 5T were some of the first devices to receive Android Oreo updates and the company prioritizes pushing out Android security patch updates within two months of release. However the company has not confirmed about OnePlus 5 and 5T getting the software update.
The company also claims that more than 135,000 OnePlus community members have signed up to review the OnePlus 6 via The Lab program. Users who’ll purchase OnePlus 6 will also be able to get their hands on the latest Android release

The early build of Android P offers developers the chance to share early feedback, while enabling you to develop and optimize apps for the platform. This build serves as a baseline version of Android P, and is targeted to early adopters and developers.
Apart from OnePlus 6, Google also announced the names of eligible devices for Android P Beta update. The eligible smartphones are Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21, and Essential PH‑1.
Google had also published a timeline which showcases release dates for Android P. The next Developer Preview 3 with Final APIs will be released in June, the final release is scheduled for third quarter of 2018.
