Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang declared a projected 20-fold increase in computing capacities by 2024. Speaking at the Nvidia AI Summit 2024, Huang pointed out the nation's potential to evolve from a software export hub to a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
During his address, Huang talked about India’s integral role in the global IT industry, describing it as ‘dear to the world's computer industry.’ He stated that as AI technologies advance, India is positioned to make significant strides in AI exportation, shifting from its traditional role of software production to becoming a powerhouse in AI development and delivery.
Huang stated, "India exported software; in the future, India will export AI." This will change the country's economic prospects and elevate its standing in the global tech ecosystem. He noted that the expected growth in computing capacities would enable India to harness AI’s potential more effectively, leading to impactful solutions that could resonate across various sectors.
Addressing concerns about the potential for job displacement due to AI advancements, Huang reassured that while the nature of work will evolve, jobs themselves will not be eliminated. He said, “AI will absolutely not take away a job, but the person who uses AI to do a job better will take away the job,” focusing on the importance of upskilling and adapting to new technologies to thrive in the changing job market.
