The Indian stock market remained muted in the Monday trading session. The benchmark, indices Nifty and Sensex closed near their record-highs, however PSU and private banks displayed significant gains in the session.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty 50 index ended 0.11 per cent lower at 22,932, whereas the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex settled almost flat at 75,414 levels w on the closing bell.
Nifty Moves
In the Nifty50 index, merely 18 stocks ended with gains while 32 stocks fell into the red territory.
In the 50-stocks index, Divis Lab claimed the top position with 3.22 per cent gain followed by more than 1 per cent gain in IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Adani Ports and LTI Mindtree.
Conversely, in the laggard segment, Adani Enterprises, Wipro and Grasim Industries plummeted more than 2 per cent. ONGC, SBI Life and Eicher Motors also lost nearly per cent.
Sectoral Movement
In terms of sectoral performance, Bank and Finance traded as the highest gainer followed by gains in IT and Realty. Pharma remained flat, while FMCG and Metal slumped in the session.
The more domestically focussed indices, mid-cap gained 0.64 per cent, while small-cap index gained 0.81 per cent in the session.
