Nestle India has resumed the manufacturing of Maggi noodles at the Pantnagar factory in Uttarakhand, making this the fourth factory currently manufacturing the product after Nanjungud in Karnataka, Moga in Punjab and Bicholim in Goa.
"As we welcome back Maggi noodles, we have currently reached out to more than 600 towns and cities, covered about two lakh outlets and have sold over 4.5 crore packs. We are hopeful that this journey will help us re-calibrate, re-charge and re-focus on the brand," Nestle India chief Suresh Narayanan said in a statement.
The company's release stated that the commencement of production at Pantnagar will have an economic impact across the supply chain.
Suppliers, vendors, distributors, retailers, kiosks which sell cooked Maggi Noodles and service providers are in the process of reinstating and re-activating the systems and processes.
In the past few weeks, the company has been in active engagement with the authorities and has provided all the documents and clarifications, before commencement of production. The ban order imposed by the Government of Uttarakhand was only till September 30 and the order passed by Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) has been set aside by the Bombay High Court.
The company reiterated that the noodles are now 100 per cent safe.
"We are yet to start production in Tahliwal (Himachal Pradesh) and are engaging with the authorities and other stakeholders for necessary clearance," the company added.
While Nestle relaunched its marquee product after a five-month ban was lifted recently, the firm is still faced with the Rs.640-crore class action suit filed by the Indian government for alleged unfair trade practices.
