The plenary session of the World Economic Forum was held in Davos today where the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi delivered a keynote speech. PM gave the opening speech of this year’s WEF meet. Narendra Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos since Deve Gowda in 1997. In his speech, Modi said that, "look forward to sharing my vision for India's future engagement with the international community.”
70 head of states attended the global business meet. 2,000 CEOs of various nations and 38 heads of major international organisations will be present at the summit. This year’s summit would witness the largest-ever engagement of global leaders.
The focus areas of discussion at the World Economic Forum this year would be International security, environment, and global economy. The theme for this year’s WEF meeting is 'Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World'.
In his speech, Narendra Modi narrated "India's growth story and presenting exciting opportunities for global business in India".
