N Chandrasekaran Reappointed As Chairman Of Tata Sons
N Chandrasekaran on Friday got reappointed as the chairman of Tata Sons for a second term of five years. He enjoys the support and approval of the board of Tata Trusts and its chairman Ratan Tata. A board meeting on Friday at the Bombay House ratified the same.
N Chandrasekaran said, “It has been a privilege to lead the Tata Group for the last five years and I am delighted at the opportunity to lead the Tata Group for another five years, in its next phase.”
The Board of Tata Sons reviewed the last five years under Chandrasekaran and Ratan Tata who was a special invitee in the board meeting expressed his satisfaction on the progress and performance of the Tata Group under Chandrasekaran's leadership. He recommended his term for renewal for a further five-year period, said an official statement.
Chandrasekaran officially took over charge as the chairman in February 2017 and chairs the boards of operating companies such as Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power and TCS.
Chandrasekaran navigated the group through several challenges under his leadership such as betting on future growth opportunities, the long and victorious legal battle with Cyrus Mistry and the recent acquisition of Air India. All of these strengthened the case for his second term.
The chairman of Tata Sons usually gets a five-year term when selected.
