Mylab Join Forces With Syngene Amid Covid-19

To fight Covid-19, Mylab, a Pune-based molecular diagnostics company has collaborated with Kiran Mazumdar Shaw’s research organisation Syngene to get a helping hand as they manufacture Indian origin Covid-19 testing kits. Syngene is an internationally reputed contract research and manufacturing organization, which supports R&D programs from lead generation to clinical supplies.

The current increase in the demand for RT-PCR Covid-19 testing kits in India has made Mylab join hands with Syngene, making them self-reliant for an accurate diagnosis. 

Mylab has supplied ICMR-approved testing kits in over 20 states and now scaling up its production and will be able to deliver a total of 700,000 RT-PCR tests before May 3, 2020.

Executive Chairperson of Biocon Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said, “We are pleased with this partnership to make it a truly indigenous kit, soon after the company announced the partnership.  

Although, this is not the first time that the Mylab is partnering with a company. Earlier they partnered with Serum Institute and AP Globale for similar reasons, but the diagnostic company is now looking for enough supply of indigenously made raw materials, said Mylab.
 
Supporting the cause, Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla expressed his contentment to the partnership with Syngene International. He said, “This step will make Mylab’s COVID-19 testing kit more indigenous, reducing dependency on foreign raw materials and to further strengthen India’s self-reliance in response to Covid-19.”
