Mahindra & Mahindra on Wednesday (December 6) launched the Imperio pickup in the price range of Rs 6.25 lakh – Rs 7.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane). The new small commercial vehicle (SCV) is touted as the facelifted version of the company’s other SUV Geneio. Available in both single and double cabin options, the Imperio targets small business owners who need fast and convenient transport facility.
Pravin Shah, president and chief executive (Automotive) M&M, said," In keeping with our endeavour of offering first of its kind products, we have launched the Imperio today which lays a strong foundation for an entirely new generation of pickups. Being a market leader in the segment, we have identified gaps to further consolidate our presence in the SCV segment,”
“A result of extensive consumer insights, the Imperio reflects the changing aspirations of a commercial vehicle buyer. A true Make in India vehicle, I am confident that the product will be a game changer and go a long way in helping our customers,” he added.
Positioned as a premium product offering, the model boasts of car-like convenience features, including ergonomically designed seats, air conditioner, a plush cabin and dashboard. Powered by a 2.5 litre direct injection engine with common rail technology, the company will also launch a CNG (compressed natural gas) variant later.
The new M&M vehicle will compete against Tata Xenon and Isuzu D-Max pick-ups. The Imperio will replace the existing Genio pick-up.
Mahindra already sells the Bolero Pik up and Maxi Truck in the pick-up segment.
