Meta Launches AI Chatbot For Enhanced Employee Productivity: Reports
Meta is reportedly all set to launch of its highly anticipated artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, 'Metamate.' The chatbot has been trained on internal data to assist employees in various tasks, such as meeting summarisation, code writing, and feature debugging, according to reports from The Verge.
It is being reported that Meta engaged in discussions with tech giants Microsoft and OpenAI. However, the company ultimately decided to develop its own proprietary AI model. This move aligns with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's vision, announced in February of this year, to establish a dedicated product team focused on generative AI.
Zuckerberg emphasised the short-term objective of building creative and expressive tools, with a long-term goal of creating "AI personas" that would aid users in diverse ways. The introduction of 'Metamate' marks a significant step towards realising this vision, enhancing the capabilities of Meta's employees and boosting their productivity.
The internal rollout of 'Metamate' has commenced, initially targeting a select group of employees within the organisation. By leveraging Meta's extensive internal data, the chatbot is equipped to assist employees with summarising meetings, writing code, and debugging features, thereby streamlining their daily workflows and enabling them to accomplish tasks more efficiently.
Furthermore, reports emerged last week indicating that Meta-owned Instagram is also exploring the integration of AI chatbot features within its platform. This development signals Meta's broader strategy to harness the potential of AI across its range of products and services, providing users with new and interactive ways to engage with the platform.
