Meta’s Threads dethrones ChatGPT as the fastest-growing online platform to hit the milestone. The Twitter rival crossed more than 100 million users in just five days, a progress which CEO Mark Zuckerberg underlined on Monday.
Threads have been trending and setting records since its launch on Wednesday, with celebrities, politicians and other newsmakers joining the new application marking a serious threat to Elon Musk’s microblogging platform, says analysts as per reports.
Zuckerberg emphasised that the user demand on Threads is organic and not promotional.
UBS study also claimed, the Meta-owned application’s 100 million users were much speedier than that of OpenAI-owned ChatGPT, which created history becoming the fastest-growing consumer application in January just two months after its launch.
Reports mentioned that Threads still need some more features which it is catching up to do so.
It said Twitter is reportedly in talks to sue Meta for alleging its trade secrets and other confidential information to build the application.
Thread’s strong resemblance to Twitter is also assumed to be the reason for its growing users, the reports said additionally. Meanwhile, Twitter in its last public disclosure before Musk's takeover said of having nearly 240 million monetizable daily active users as of July last year.
