Expanding its presence in the Gulf market, private carrier Jet Airways on Tuesday (22 March) launched daily direct flights on the Muscat-Delhi sector.
With the launch, the new flight between Delhi and Muscat will make the airline’s role more significant in promoting travel between the two countries. At present, Jet Airways will operate a total of four daily flights between India and Muscat. This includes flights from Mumbai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
"It is indeed a proud moment for us at Jet Airways to launch our maiden international flight between Delhi and Muscat. This is a significant milestone for enhancing the strong ties between India and the Sultanate of Oman. With the launch of this flight, Jet Airways guests from Northern India, SAARC and ASEAN regions will have the option of travelling to Oman via Delhi,” said Gaurang Shetty, senior vice-president, commercial of Jet Airways.
The launch of this new daily flight between Delhi and Muscat will provide greater choice for guests travelling from India to Oman. India and Oman are linked by historical maritime trade linkages and the important role of the Indian expatriate community in the development of Oman.
Oman also offers an attractive destination for travel and tourism. The connectivity offered by the new service will provide greater opportunity for expansion of business and tourism traffic between the two countries.
The airline will deploy a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on these new services, offering premiere and economy services.
Meanwhile, as a result of twin explosions at Brussels airport today, Jet Airways have cancelled its services from Brussels to Toronto, Newark, Mumbai and Delhi till March 23, 2016.
“As per initial information, Jet Airways guests in Brussels have been re-located to a safe location by the Brussels Airport authorities. At this time passengers and staff have been cordoned off and are not allowed to access the airport terminals. Jet Airways staff and crew are safe. Two of our staff have been injured and are receiving medical care. Jet Airways is closely monitoring the situation in Brussels and will provide further updates as information becomes available,” the airline said in a statement.
