Gurgaon-based JBM Auto Limited, a leading automotive company, on Monday (February 8) launched the diesel version of its ultra-low-floor luxurious bus Citylife at Auto Expo 2016.
"Citylife CNG has received a very good response from the market and we are going to deliver the first tranche very soon. However, we have witnessed numerous enquiries for a diesel bus with the same comfort of Citylife CNG as CNG is not available in all cities. Our new offering Citylife Diesel is to meet this demand. This bus has inherited all the safety and comfort specifications of Citylife," said Nishant Arya, executive director of JBM Group.
The new Citylife is compliant with the government's Urban Bus Specification 2 (UBS 2) standards. It has some unique features like folding wheelchair ramp for specially-abled passengers, mobile charging points for passenger convenience, security cameras inside the bus.
The Citylife Diesel will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Kosi, Uttar Pradesh, which has a capacity to manufacture 2,000 buses annually, the company said.
The bus has been designed keeping in mind Indian traffic and weather conditions. Some unique features include a monocoque structure to ensure maximum strength and minimum weight, matching European standards for safety in case of front and side collision and rollover accidents.
The fuel tank capacity of the bus is 265 litres. The new bus from the automaker has an independent front suspension (IFS) that will ensure a stress-free ride for passengers.
To boost passenger safety and comfort, the new bus will have cantilever seats and armrests, ensuring more room for standing passengers.
JBM Auto is the flagship company of the $1.35 billion JBM Group that makes auto components and buses in the country.
