But the journey from a backyard agency to where it stands now was not easy.
Going by what Harsh Vardhan Dutta, Founder and CEO of italics, reminisces, "it was difficult around the year 2005 when italics came into being. Those days, selling content was akin to making door-to-door sales. The period around 2005 was one with a scarce understanding of SEO, and content writing for digital properties was in its infancy. Further, the social media space was just beginning to unfurl".
The Journey
The initial years witnessed italics going all out to learn and imbibe the dynamics of communication on digital platforms. SEO content was the low-hanging fruit and online businesses were scurrying up to hire content writers. Gradually, with strategic tie-ups, italics was working with many small businesses that were foraying into the digital space.
All these have made italics what it is today. Delivering the goods from its Gurugram base in India, italics can look back at the humble manner it started operations with just a handful of clients to strategic partners to some of the most exciting online businesses today.
The blossoming of operations saw italics sign up its first big client. It was Bharti Airtel, India’s second largest telecom player, that was onboarded as a client in 2006. The amount of confidence this event provided to Dutta and his team was huge.
The services it was able to provide to Airtel brought with them the urge to do more. Exploring the domain in its own way, italics managed to establish itself as a professional content provider, and thus it went on to own the status of a disruptor much earlier. After earning the tag of a pioneer in the content marketing services, italics went on to provide website content for more big corporate clients.
Going global With Exemplary Content
That ensured its entry into the big league. From website content, italics was able to branch out into a provider of social media content, with domain expertise in SEO content writing, social media content and video production. Soon, it spread its wings and got on board accounts like Maruti Suzuki, Canon, Dabur, Muthoot Finance, and more. With ambition as fuel, italics went global and acquired clients across Europe and the US. Since then, there has been no looking back.
Thus, italics was able to position itself as a one-stop shop for all content requirements of the customers. Content is no longer a hygiene activity but a user puller, and brands nowadays aspire for high-quality content with expertise in their categories.
