Intel Security aims to be the numero uno security player globally across 4 key portfolios – endpoint security, data loss protection (DLP), network security, and security information management (SIM).
The company is well positioned to get to that level as it focuses on new emerging areas around dynamic endpoint, pervasive data protection, data centre, and cloud defence, Anand Ramamoorthy, MD, Intel Security, South Asia said. It has invested more than $500 million over the past year in the security business by revamping the solution portfolio.
Interestingly, India is the largest engineering site for Intel Security, even larger than its US headquarters. The India office employs about 1680+ employees across all functions and has close to 30 fully-owned products. In India, Intel Security caters to key verticals such as government, telecom, BFSI, and commercial.
In India, the key growth drivers for the security market in 2017 will be driven by factors such as Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Cities, and prime minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives around Digital India and Startup India.
The company recently announced that it will soon open source the McAfee Data Exchange Layer (DXL) to the industry. “The new open McAfee DXL marks the next phase of Intel Security’s renewed commitment to help the industry accelerate the threat defence lifecycle,” Ramamoorthy said.
Intel security which was a spin off from its acquisition of McAfee for $7.68 billion in 2011, also shared its plans to rebrand itself as ‘McAfee by Intel’ by April 2017.
