India's largest low-cost carrier airline IndiGo is expanding its domestic network with the launch of 14 new flights, connecting key cities to meet the rising summer season demand.
Effective May 1, IndiGo will commence new flights connecting Bengaluru to Ahmedabad, Kolkata to Hyderabad, Bengaluru to Jaipur and Chennai to Kochi.
Additionally, the airline will connect Kochi to Chennai and Jaipur to Bengaluru, from May 02, 2016. Furthermore, from May 06, IndiGo will also add increased frequencies between Delhi to Srinagar and Delhi to Jaipur.
"The increased flow of traffic to and from these cities gave us a great opportunity to offer passengers more chances to experience the hassle-free and on-time performance that IndiGo has become synonymous with. We are confident that these flights will prove to be just as popular and convenient to our passengers," said Aditya Ghosh, president of IndiGo.
The airline maintained its leadership position in the domestic aviation sector by carrying 85.03 lakh passengers in the January-March period for the calendar year 2016 and the market share of the company during the same period was at 37 per cent.
The airline stood second on on-time performance (OTP) after full-service carrier Vistara, according to the latest data given by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
With 759 flights connecting 40 destinations, these new flights will further consolidate IndiGo’s position as the fastest growing airline in India.
